Sarah Purdy is currently a senior at Tabor Academy. She began playing the clarinet at the age of 9 and is now under the instruction of Michael Norsworthy of the Boston Conservatory. Sarah has sat principal clarinet in the Massachusetts Music Educators Association Southeast Senior District Orchestra for 3 years, principal in the All-State Concert Band and Orchestra, and performed with the All-Eastern Wind Ensemble in Baltimore last spring. She has been a member of the renowned Youth Philharmonic Orchestra at the New England Conservatory of Music under Benjamin Zander; she has performed works such as Prokofiev’s "Romeo and Juliet," Bartok’s "Concerto for Orchestra", and Mahler’s 9th Symphony. Sarah toured Europe with that orchestra last summer visiting Vienna, Prague and Bratislava. Sarah has been the recipient of the Tri-County Music Association Summer Study Grant for two years and the John R. Pandolfi Music Instruction Award all of her four years at Tabor.
Sarah Purdy will be performing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the Tri-County Symphonic Band on October 30, 2011.
